21. A World’s Natural Wonder: Iguazú Falls

On the morning of December 9th, I flew two hours from Buenos Aires to Iguazú. This city sits near the triple border of Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay, and is the gateway to one of the most incredible sights on Earth: the Iguazú Falls.

I arrived in sweltering 32-degree heat and checked into a hostel near the center. The historic River Plate vs. Boca Juniors match was just starting, so I had to watch it there. The setup was decent (sofa and cold beers for sale), but the atmosphere was tense: every other Argentinian there, including the staff, was a Boca fan. It was me against the room. I suffered through the entire match, but when River finally won, I went absolutely crazy, ignoring the death stares! 🙂

Despite the rivalry, I made good friends and visited the falls the next day with some other guests. The views are truly breathtaking.

I spent two nights on the Argentinian side before taking a bus across the border to Brazil. There, I spent another two nights in a hostel surrounded by forest and explored the falls from the Brazilian side.

As always, I documented this unique place in a photo album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/jaXfhmMrGqcCVZF76

Today, I flew from Foz do Iguaçu to São Paulo. I’m currently waiting for my connection to kick off the most ambitious leg of this incredible journey!
